Collagen Hybridizing Peptides

New Collagen Hybridizing Peptides (CHP) conjugates from Advanced BioMatrix enable the direct detection of denatured collagen.

The Collagen Hybridizing Peptide (CHP) is a synthetic peptide that bind specifically to denatured collagen strands through hydrogen bonding, both in histology, in vivo, and in vitro (3D cell culture).

By sharing the structural motif and the Gly-X-Y repeating sequence of natural collagen, CHP has a strong capability to hybridize with denatured collagen strands and has negligible affinity to intact collagen molecules due to the lack of binding sites.

CHP's are great for detection of unfolded collagen molecules in virtually any tissue that has been subject to mechanical damage or enzymatic remodeling (including decellularized tissues)!

The CHP probe may be well suited for visualization of ECM remodeling events in 3D collagen gels cause by cancer cell migration, vascular sprouting, skin inflammation, and macrophage polarization, as well as on modern tissue culture platforms, including organoids and organ-on-a-chip.

The degraded collagen fibrils in the 3D collagen hydrogel (right) are directly labeled with CHP through triple helical hybridization, whose signals are readily detected by a standard fluorescence confocal microscope.
